Spring/Summer
2010 trends are drawing inspiration from the
natural world and the wild, while remaining
playful with a blend of colours paying homage to
the 70s.
On
one hand, the jewellery from this season invokes a
playful, feminine mood with its colours. Muffled
tones in dark blues, faded beiges and tans are
contrasted by more intense hues of sky blue or
violet with stronger accents of red or turquoise.
Yet, another strong trend of more naturalistic
colours will invoke a romantic, spiritual and
poetic appeal. A soft, serene palette of chalky,
light, faded, powder and talcum colors are
accompanied by more intense shades of taupe beige
and mauve. A range of dynamic, springtime pastels
is added to this base: pink, greenish yellow,
orange, vibrant green, will also be dominant.
In terms of design, the two words to sum up what’s
hot right now are bold and intricate. Layered
necklaces haven't disappeared, but styles are more
compact – smaller beads and more intricate
layering creates the playoff, earthy look of this
season. Wooden bangles and bangles made with resin
& Bone remain popular, and many are
embellished with beads, metals and other
components. These pieces have certain longevity to
them, so wrist jewellery is a good investment this
season. Materials such as metals in all colours,
wood, resin and enamel will provide a very raw,
playful and authentic feel to your accessories
this season.
This season is all about taking the wild, playful
runway fashions seen in Paris, New York and Milan
and making it fit your lifestyle. While
celebrities are still opting for the biggest and
boldest they can get, designers are creating
pieces that fit the everyday woman’s life. By
taking natural elements and sly throwbacks to the
1970s – the trends are light and airy, while
being bold and statement-making. Do not be afraid
to play with colours and inspire your wardrobe
with your jewellery!
